ROOTS.

Cameron has deep roots in the Portage—Lisgar riding. He is the second of three children born and raised by Max and Esther Friesen in Morden. He met his wife, Shelley, in grade school, and after completing university, they chose to return to the riding where they raised their three children. Cameron served on community and non-profit boards in southern Manitoba while teaching high school at Morden Collegiate. He later served as Executive Assistant to MP Candice Bergen, crisscrossing the riding for two years with the MP, listening to the people, attending the meetings, working on their issues.  In 2011, Cameron was elected to the Manitoba Legislature where he has served for three terms as the MLA for Morden—Winkler.

Cameron has grown up with and surrounded by the people of Portage—Lisgar.  He is keenly aware of the issues in this area of Manitoba: our population is growing, driven by good jobs and opportunity; immigration is bringing new people to our neighbourhoods; business and industry manage the challenges of expansion and labour needs, agricultural producers invest in their operations while navigating rapidly changing policies; and key infrastructure priorities requiring true partnerships to address rapid growth.

Portage—Lisgar needs a strong voice and a committed leader to ensure the priorities of the riding are heard in Ottawa, and that its constituents are well served at home.
